Diamondback 360 CSI

Diamondback 360 Coronary Orbital Atherectomy System (OAS) from Cardiovascluar Systems INC. uses a catheter with a diamond crown designed to reduce atheromatous plaque in patients with severe coronary calcium.

Orbital atherectomy is based on two mechanisms: superficial sanding of calcium and using pulsatile forces for fracturing of medial calcium. This restores vascular wall compliance. The orbital atherectomy system may be used in vessels with a reference diameter of 2.5 to 4.0 mm.

The OAS consists of the hand-held Diamondback 360 Coronary Orbital Atherectomy Device with a catheter and a crown (OAD), the Saline Infusion Pump, which also provides the power to the OAD, the CSI ViperWire Advance™ Coronary Guide Wire, and the CSI ViperSlide™ Lubricant.

Efficacy and safety

Using Diamondback 360 gives a good chance of restoring natural vascular wall compliance thanks to its dual mechanism of action (shear and pulsatile forces). The ORBIT II study demonstrated that Diamondback 360 is a clinically safe and effective tool for atherectomy, which facilitates stent delivery in severely calcified coronary vessels, while reducing the risk of complications (successful stent implantation in 97.7% of cases).

Possible time and cost savings

The benefits in terms of costs are associated with reduced hospitalization periods and lower revascularization rates. The system also allows for saving time as it facilitates operating in tortuous, tight and severely calcified vessels without the need of exchanging the workhorse/guide wire. After performing orbital atherectomy, the procedure may be completed over the same guidewire.

Easy and convenient to use

The same kit is used for every procedure and its preparation takes approximately 2 minutes. There is no need to adjust rotation speed and the system ensures solid support and security when introducing subsequent devices.
